Breaking the Silence: A Community’s Response to Domestic Violence

What can one community do to fight domestic violence? Kansas City will search for answers at upcoming seminar.
The Metropolitan Family Violence Coalition (MFVC), in partnership with the UMKC Women’s Center, will offer a seminar to area community members in an effort to find solutions and coordinate efforts to help assist those struggling to survive domestic violence.
Keynote speaker, Sandy Barnett (Executive Director: Kansas Coalition Against Sexual & Domestic Violence) will investigate the issues in front of an audience at UMKC’s Pierson Auditorium.
Seminar participants will then attend various breakout topics facilitated and hosted by experts from area agencies.
Breakout topics include:
- Diversity of Domestic Violence
- Domestic Violence: A Workplace issue
- In Her Shoes: Understanding Obstacles Victims Face
- Men as Allies: Engaging Men in the Solution
- The Outrage: Teen Dating Violence
The training is an opportunity for CNE credit and/or training hours.
Cost is $10 for students and $20 for professionals.
