An online blog for those helping to break the cycle of domestic violence

Category: Summer 2024

This year marks another meaningful milestone – 45 years of providing emergency shelter. Although Rose Brooks Center was established in 1978, it was just one year later that our first shelter opened with 19 beds for adults and children.
As many of you know, our school-based prevention program is called Project SAFE™, and it’s been an important community partner of the Jackson County school system for 32 years!
Housing stability and economic security go hand in hand. Without one, the other will be hard to sustain. That’s why Rose Brooks Center implements these services in tandem, often alongside what we refer to as care coordination.
This flier can be found in the halls of Rose Brooks Center, among announcements for other support groups, community resources, and the occasional bingo game get-together.
Happy New Year! We bet you thought this title was a mistake. . . but it’s not! While most of us celebrate the new year on January 1st, here at Rose Brooks Center, our fiscal “new” year starts on July 1st.
Our community relationship with the Kansas City Police Department is a very long one, and it continues to deepen with each passing year.
