An online blog for those helping to break the cycle of domestic violence

Category: Winter 2019

While this time of year is usually focused on gift giving and helping others, there are really no words to describe what an experience it is to hear from the families in shelter that they feel safe. For many, it’s the very first time.
As you consider your year-end gifts or planned giving options, remember there are several ways to help.
Not unlike others who have a created a vision board to help maintain focus on a goal, Rose Brooks Center uses a vision statement to lead the efforts of our program work.
One of the very first programs that Rose Brooks Center established since opening its shelter in 1979 was the Children’s Program. Created in 1980, the program sought to help address the incredible emotional needs of those also impacted by domestic violence - the children.
“A compassionate ear.” “The greatest understanding.” “The reason I am the whole person I am today.” These are the kinds of things that have been said about therapists who work at Rose Brooks Center.
