An online blog for those helping to break the cycle of domestic violence

Category: Winter 2023

As another year draws to an end, it’s a common practice to look back and recognize the changes that have taken place in our lives.
Healing from trauma of any kind can be a long, painful, and sometimes confusing experience. When our trauma is due to an abusive relationship, it can feel like we are trying to rediscover ourselves AND find healing at the same time.
We are extraordinarily proud of Rose Brooks Center’s CEO, Lisa Fleming, and her inclusion in the Kansas City Business Journal’s “Twenty to Know.”
One of the many barriers families face in making the difficult and often dangerous decision to escape their abuser is fear for the safety of their pets.
Last year, Rose Brooks housed hundreds of children in emergency shelter. Of those, 46% were five years old or under.
