On average, almost half of those housed in Rose Brooks Center’s emergency shelter are children. It’s why a large portion of one of our facilities is dedicated to our youngest clients. Below you see a collection of snapshots throughout our children services wing. The photos represent just a portion of our program, including play and group therapy, wayfinder signs, a teen room, and resources.
The Children’s Program is a significant part of Rose Brooks’ mission, as we work to break the cycle of domestic violence. We provide a wide variety of services to support the emotional and physical well-being of children who are healing from domestic violence.
Under the umbrella of our children’s programming we have services within our shelter walls, as well as throughout the community in over 30 Jackson County schools, through our school-based program Project SAFE™. Collectively, we offer therapeutic care, small groups, intentional safe play, and school-based violence prevention and education – encompassing everything from educating children about healthy relationships, helping them recognize unsafe situations, resiliency, coping strategies and support resources, and encouraging open communication with the safe and trusted adults in our lives.
We thank our children’s and Project SAFE staff for the healing they all bring each and every day.

One of the very first programs that Rose Brooks Center established since opening its shelter in 1979 was the Children’s Program. Created in 1980, the program helps to address the incredible emotional needs of those also impacted by domestic violence – the children.
