“Make your voices heard and support important domestic violence legislation.” These words from CEO Lisa Fleming sum up the reason why we participate in legislative advocacy. . . because our collective voices matter!
Rose Brooks Center will continue to advocate for legislative and systems change to prevent all violence, in particular violence impacting those we serve. Taking action by becoming involved and using our voices has proven helpful in seeing change, including: funding sustained through both national and local revenue streams; firearm restrictions for those convicted of domestic violence; and legislation supporting the physical safety, financial safety, and overall well-being of survivors of domestic violence.
Advocacy is a pivotal element in ensuring Rose Brooks can provide life-saving care to those we serve within our walls, as well as the thousands of children and community members we help throughout the Kansas City area.
We will continue to use our voices in our role of advocacy to make a positive impact on our community and help create safe futures for everyone.
