Businesses From All Over the Metro Join Rose Brooks Center for Purple Thursday
Rose Brooks sends the community to stores throughout the metro, to pick up a
“Your Voices Matter” pin to wear on October 17th
Kansas City, Missouri, October 15, 2024 — This year on Purple Thursday – a national day of visibility and awareness about domestic violence – businesses from all over the metro will be using their voices in support of survivors of domestic violence. Because of a unique partnership with Rose Brooks Center, a local domestic violence agency, community members will be able to visit storefronts in and around Kansas City to pick up a “Your Voices Matter” pin to wear on Thursday, October 17th.
Scott Mason, Director of Marketing at Rose Brooks Center, explains the importance of a campaign like “Your Voices Matter,” and the role of its partners. “The campaign aims to serve as a wide-spread visual reminder to survivors that they are not alone. For us, the pins represent a community that is saying to every survivor, ‘You deserve a safe future; You are not alone; and
Rose Brooks is here to help.’ But because Rose Brooks is a secured location, we needed the help of local businesses to distribute pins. . . and they answered the call.”
This is how the campaign works: Rose Brooks Center provides each business with pins and domestic violence resources to hand out to customers. Through social media, Rose Brooks and partners will alert followers to visit their preferred location to pick up a pin. Then customers wear their pin in participation of Purple Thursday – amplifying their collective voices within their own communities.
“Being adjacent to the impacts of domestic violence as a young kid I know firsthand the devastation it causes to family units and to the still maturing psyche of children.” Chris Goode, CEO of Ruby Jean’s Juicery, explains their connection to Rose Brooks Center’s mission. “The fear and broken trust is a gap that seems at times impossible to fill. So, any opportunity we get to use our space and platform as a conduit to more healing we are grateful to do so. We appreciate the large gap that Rose Brooks stands in and are honored to play a very small role in their efforts by housing their pins!”
The businesses listed below are playing a key role in this campaign, aptly named “Your Voices Matter.” You can also read more at rosebrooks.org/your-voices-matter
